Position: Yard Driver

FSLA Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Pay Rate: $20/hr

Scope of the Role

The Yard Driver is responsible in assisting with inspecting containers, managing equipment, and ensure the safe and smooth maneuvering of all trailers. Additionally, this position must be conscious and follow safety requirements when moving and operating the equipment including but not limited to managing physical and mechanical condition of the equipment, through daily and weekly inspections and providing basic maintenance.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Organize tractor trailers within the space and to ensure trucks and trailers are ready for unloading, loading, and transport.
• Perform the weekly and daily inspection of the equipment assigned for the week by following the check list provided.
• Perform the basic maintenance of the equipment.
• Responsible for the order and cleanliness of the equipment
• Follow all safety procedures for the movement and operation of the equipment.
• Move containers to and from the warehouse doors/docks and the parking spots at the yard or in the warehouses. Open and close the container doors when at the docks.
• Support the reach stacker operator on chassis swap for over the road dispatches.
• Make the necessary movements of equipment within the yard/warehouses as instructed by Supervisors (or Manager) to organize the facility
• Plug and unplug containers from their parking spot when necessary
• Keep track of the movements performed with the equipment.
• Keep track of fuel requirement of the equipment.
• Comply with any additional task assigned by the Operation Superintendent and/or Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Required Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have 1+ years of recent experience in a similar role within the manufacturing, production, or distribution environments.
• Clean driving record required.
• Excellent attendance required; must be able to work on a regular and predictable basis or as schedule due to changes in the business needs and/or during peak season.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation.
