Position Summary: The
VP of Marketing is a critical leadership team role focused on driving increased customer acquisition and customer retention while delivering profitable growth across our family of brands. The leader will be our resident growth marketing expert while also leading the development of our brand strategy for each of our current and future unique brands.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving growth at a digitally native customer acquisition focused direct to consumer business. They will have also created a comprehensive brand strategy with proven experience applying the strategy to innovative and creative marketing campaigns across many channels all focused on our specific target audience. We are looking for an individual who has been part of building or transforming a high potential business in a category with a substantial total addressable market. The individual will have an underdog mentality and work toward solving solutions with tenacity and grit.
Key Responsibility Areas: Strategic, Communication, Financial, Management, Technical etc
Critical Responsibilities: - Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that encompasses all channels to drive customer acquisition, retention, and profitability.
- Lead performance marketing efforts, including paid search, social media advertising, email marketing, and affiliate marketing, to meet or exceed revenue targets, by driving inbound site traffic and phone calls.
- Oversee brand strategy, including positioning, messaging, and visual identity, to ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints.
- Create an innovative culture focused on testing new marketing channels to surround our prospective customers and ultimately drive trials.
- Own the website user experience assuring that the team has a continuous improvement mentality focused on optimizing site visits and conversion as well as call volume.
Leadership: - Fully engage and contribute in weekly, quarterly, and annual leadership planning meetings, including accurate, timely reporting of key measurables through the company Scorecard Collaborate with C-level, VP, and director-level peers, and other key leaders as appropriate, to resolve issues and identify opportunities.

Management: - Manage and maintain a fully functioning and capable marketing department, by recruiting, selecting, training, and coaching team members. Lead the departments' weekly meetings, focused on measuring and monitoring the departments' performance, accountability for short-term and long-term initiatives, and issue resolution.
- Holds marketing department team members accountable through monitoring and feedback of job performance, including ongoing performance management always focused on maintaining a highly productive and inspired team.
Strategic: - Lead the development of the company's marketing strategy and marketing plan to achieve, or exceed, goals for inbound eCommerce traffic to drive sales growth.
- Lead the strategic development of marketing campaigns, including design of test/control segmentation, testing plans, tracking, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
- Lead the strategic development of eCommerce website, including design and user experience.
- Develop and maintain the integrity of the company's brand and brand voice by having an intimate understanding of the target customer segments.
Financial: - Build and manage marketing budgets, including internal and external resource needs, in conjunction with leadership and finance teams.
Communication: - Communicate the marketing strategy and plan to the Leadership Team, Marketing department, and all impacted stakeholder departments, including Merchandising, Operations, Customer Support, IT, and Finance.
Execution: - Provide guidance and support to Customer Acquisition Director, Director of Brand Marketing, and marketing team as they manage the planning, directing, coordinating, and execution of marketing plan activities, including SEO, SEM, advertising, email, social media, and content marketing campaigns.
- Provide guidance and support to the creative team as they manage the planning, directing, coordinating, and execution of graphic design, copywriting, and visual content/assets (photo, video) to support the marketing plan activities.
- Provide guidance and support to the ecommerce team as they manage the planning, directing, coordinating, and execution of e-commerce website design and user experience responsibilities. Continually build awareness of the company's brand and market position.
Measurement: - Understand and utilize key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide key performance indicators, including campaign activity results (e.g., sessions, calls/sessions), return on spend/return on investment results (e.g., ad spend), forecasts (e.g., labor) Maintain up-to-date leadership team and department level scorecard measurables.
Qualifications: degrees, certifications, experience, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in business or similar discipline, MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of marketing experience. Preferably with a DTC brand and/or E-commerce experience.
- Previously worked in a fast-paced startup environment and have no issue getting your hands dirty to drive results.
- Leadership team experience, thus having broader business competency beyond marketing.
- Prior leadership experience required; must have experience in successfully developing talent.
- Strong analytical skills & ability to manipulate data quickly to extract actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work collaboratively in a cross functional environment.
- Deep understanding of metrics, content, and other criteria to increase sales profitably.
- Experience gathering business requirements for marketing assets, collecting customer and sales feedback on those assets, and measuring the success of content provided.
- In addition to growth plans, possess a sound and creative vision for "new" areas of opportunity based on market trends.
- Work with new product development and category management to round out product lines to further support specific opportunities.
- Maintain constant pulse on the competitive landscape identifying trends, innovations, new products and both current and emerging competitors. Communicate learnings with product development and supply chain counterparts to ensure timely roll out of new products.
