Job Description
Role Overview: All clinical staff will report and review clinical documentation and caseload with the Director of Substance Abuse and
Counseling Services. In pertaining to licensure; LAC staff shall work under the supervision of an LPC and LSW staff
shall work under the supervision of LCSW.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Assessment of the client's mental health conditions contributing to the needs the person has to
- facilitate treatment.
- Assists in the setting of goals and the implementation of the process to begin to achieve those goals.
- Designs the treatment plan in conjunction with the client to facilitate the treatment process.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care to the clients served. Based upon principles of growth and development.
- Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding clients to the appropriate staff.
- Respect the rights, property, and privacy of each individual participant.
- Is accountable for client care rendered and overall management of each case assigned to him / her.
- Participates in treatment team conferences and participate related meetings to include staff meetings.
- Participates in random drug testing per requirement of agency.
- Establishes and maintains communication with client, other significant individuals such as family members, referral sources, legal representatives, authorized employers when consent is given.
- Assures confidentiality of all matters involving clients, visitors, alumni and other staff.
- Documents all relevant information regarding the client confidential clinical record. Keeps chart in an orderly, legible fashion.
- Guides participants and leads discussion groups when scheduled.
- Maintains caseload and up to date participant information.
- Participates in financial counseling with the participant, fines, child support, alimony, etc.
- Accept speaking engagements when feasible.
- Daily case conferences with Director of Substance Abuse and Counseling Services.
- Provides Crisis Intervention by de-escalation techniques.
- Provides and schedules recreational activities, community integration and specified courses within the context of each participants goals and behavioral objectives.
- Provides communications (letter, telephone, meeting) with Probation, Parole, etc.
- Referrals to DVR, HIV clinics, medical and social service agencies when required for client.
- Discharge planning.
- Provides monthly statistical reports.
- Provides discharge summaries of caseload and maintains clinical record with uniformity.
- Complete knowledge of written assignments and proper presentation to participants.
Requirements
Education: - Master's Degree in a recognized mental health discipline,
Experience & Other Requirements: - Licensed and Credentialed as a mental health counselor
- At least wo years of experience providing services in a mental health modality, social services field, addiction treatment center or health care facility.
- Must have experience with individual and group counseling process.
- Must be proficient with computer skills, have knowledge of local and county social service agencies.
- Must have good to excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Serve as an appropriate role model and function as part of a team.
