Makeup Artist Location: Washington, DC
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE: The Makeup Artist is responsible for applying hair and makeup styling for the Washington, DC News Studios including reporters, on-air talent, and show guests for broadcast and field production/shoots. This also includes in-studio hair and makeup for television, print/digital for video, and still photography in collaboration with marketing and advertising teams.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Apply simple and complex makeup and hair styling as required while staying informed of changing styles and trends.
- Assist in appropriate and safe removal of makeup.
- Determine the correct materials and application styles according to lighting, setting, etc. to meet requirements from a visual and technical standpoint.
- Collaborate with show producers and on-air talent to determine desired effects.
- Establish budgets; work within budgetary limits to purchase materials when needed.
- Responsible for set up and proper maintenance of hair, makeup, and wardrobe services for shoots and events in the field.
- Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation to consistently meet the high standards and expectations of EWTN News; stay abreast of changing requirements and best practices.
ABOUT YOU: - You have a minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience providing hair and makeup application in a professional TV setting, preferably in a newsroom environment.
- You have a genuine affinity for EWTN's mission and an understanding of the Catholic Faith.
- You possess extensive knowledge of makeup and hairdressing techniques, consistently stay abreast of changing trends, and ensure your ability to apply updated techniques.
- You possess a creative and artistic nature and are a genuine team player.
- You have a technical understanding of lighting, photography, styles, etc.
- You are able to balance quality and budget restraints.
- You demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of staff, on-air talent, and show guests properly and professionally.
- You are flexible to work long hours and an adjusted schedule when necessary to accommodate changes to recording and event schedules.
- You are physically able stand for long periods of time and lift up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis.
- You hold a diploma or professional license from a vocational school in cosmetology, makeup, or relevant study.
- You are BARBICIDE Certified in sanitation requirements and best practices.
